Our own
BIOM is biotechnology, sustainability
and the circular economy
Since we live on a planet whose resources are not endless, we believe that raw materials for industry must be obtained in a biotechnological, zero-waste, carbon-neutral, circular and sustainable way.
At BIOM we bring together multidisciplinary knowledge in engineering, molecular biology and biotechnology to produce raw materials for industry from organic waste.
Our R&D&I combines microalgae technology with several different biotechnological processes. The coupling of different biological processes allows us to treat agri-food waste (livestock manure, waste from the dairy or horticultural sector etc.) so that it can be used to create valuable products for many sectors:
Agricultural and Livestock
It has many uses, from developing biofertilizers based on environmentally friendly microalgae extracts to obtaining supplements for animal feed used in livestock and aquaculture.
Biotechnological:
High-performance culture media that do not contain animal components (prion-free) for fermentation processes (enzyme production), research and pharmaceuticals.
New Materials
A long list of uses, from thickeners, humectants and fabrics based on nanocellulose for preparations and dressings in nutrition and cosmetics, to bio-sustainable adhesives for packaging which contain no polluting substances.
